Bow fishing for rays
I use a canoe, Its a blast! You'll love it. Same rules as spearfishing apply. Those big cownose are bruisers though! They go wild when stuck. Crazy how fast they are! You'll be surprised. Have at em!
yes literally i was with him when we were gigging and i speared a big one and pulled off the spear and took off tripping him and giving him a big bruise haha luckily he had the gaff in his hand and gaffed it just in time
LOL! I attach my fish arrows to milkjugs, gotta chase em down if you dont hit em in the spine
could you attach the arrows to the end of rod and reel?????
Absolutely, Im just paranoid about a break off. My arrows are solid glass with a Mech springloaded head. All I could find locally and expensive as hell. We tried with a 4/0. Keep in mind the speed at which an arrow travels. We were trying to coil the line around a handheld 2L bottle and kept getting the bottle ripped out of our hands We were pretty dumb kids at the time. Theres alot of different ways to do it.
I like the idea of my 2L breakaway mounted to my bow, the 2L is used as a spool (like a spinning reel spool) with just enough 130lb dacron to hit your target or a lil more and the end of the line is attached to the 2L that slips off the bow when your ray races off. Sounds complicated but really not.
Found a link. This is how I do it. Simple, cheap, effective. http://bowsite.com/bowsite/features/liv ... tingray99/
haha heres one for ya.
I used to shoot my 7mm Mag into schools of bluegill at my farm pond... the pressure would just knock them out they would float to the top where I could grab them for bait. its a nice explosion of water when you shoot
hell just use 1/4 stick of dynamite like the old days LOL
